About the event
Join us for the Longest Day Recipe Exchange, a workshop exploring food, memory, and community through handmade recipe books.
Participants will create handwritten recipe pages and cyanotype-printed covers using local herbs, personal objects, and sunlight. Books will be bound to create shared recipe collections gathered from the community. Participants are requested to bring a favourite home recipe to contribute to the exchange.
Part art object, part living archive, each book is designed to grow over time with new recipes and stories. The workshop includes a short introduction to the history of recipe writing and manuscript culture, followed by hands-on cyanotype printing, guided conversation, and a light shared meal featuring fresh bread and sculpted butter.
A slow, tactile gathering centered around food, making, and collective knowledge.
Thank you to Squamish Arts and the District of Squamish for making this event possible.
