Sea to Sky Cooks
Book & Event Series

In 2026, the Sea to Sky Cooks Collective is developing a regional cookbook and event series.

Sea to Sky Cooks is more than just a collection of recipes. It's a collaborative project bringing together writers, illustrators, photographers, chefs, farmers, makers, and the community who shape the distinct food culture of the Sea to Sky Corridor.

Our Project Vision

The project aims to create a vibrant cultural and culinary portrait of the Sea to Sky Corridor by gathering recipes, stories, and creative works reflecting the region’s diverse people, places, and practices.

Through a multidisciplinary book and event series, we seek to honour local voices and celebrate the food, creativity, and community spirit that make the Corridor unique.

Our vision is to build a creative platform that:

  • Honours the land and the cultural histories of the people who have lived, created, and cooked here

  • Celebrates food as art, recognizing the creativity, craft, and storytelling at the heart of cooking, farming, gathering, and making

  • Uplifts diverse cultural perspectives, from Indigenous foodways to immigrant and multigenerational traditions

  • Connects culinary and artistic communities to spark collaboration and shared expression

  • Strengthens community identity by weaving together the stories, imagery, and cultural practices that define the Sea to Sky

  • Amplifies and preserves local cultural knowledge through multidisciplinary creative work

  • Invites residents and visitors to engage more deeply with the region’s creative and culinary landscape

Our work brings together chefs, farmers, artists, cultural leaders, photographers, designers, storytellers, and community members to create a living archive of the region’s cultural expression.

By positioning food within the broader context of art and culture, we aim to foster appreciation, connection, and shared pride in the rich creative tapestry of the Sea to Sky.

What We’re Creating

Why This Project Matters

The Sea to Sky’s culinary landscape is rapidly evolving, shaped by a blend of traditional practices, new cultural influences, and a dynamic creative community.

This project responds to several core community needs:

  • Cultural Preservation: Capturing and honouring the region’s diverse culinary heritage

  • Creative Activation: Providing space for artists and culinary creators to collaborate

  • Economic Support: Offering visibility and storytelling that uplifts local businesses

  • Community Engagement: Encouraging shared experiences, cultural exchange, and dialogue

  • Regional Identity: Strengthening a collective sense of belonging across the corridor

By framing food as both culture and creative expression, the Sea to Sky Cooks Collective helps build a deeper, more inclusive understanding of what makes this region such a vibrant place to live, work, and create.

Our Approach

Our work is grounded in values of collaboration, authenticity, equity, and respect.

We prioritize:

  • Engaging directly with community members and cultural leaders

  • Ensuring informed consent and respectful storytelling

  • Centreing diverse and underrepresented voices

  • Building partnerships with local businesses, non-profits, and arts organizations

  • Creating high-quality, accessible, and meaningful content

  • Supporting cultural expression through creative practice

Everything we create is developed with the community — not simply about it.
